Sri Lanka stock exchange lures listings from eastern small businesses

ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange is trying to attract small businesses in Sri Lanka’s eastern province to list and raise funds for their growth.
A forum was held in Batticaloa in the Eastern Province to create awareness on capital raising options available to entrepreneurs through a stock exchange listing on the ‘Empower Board’, a statement said.
The Empower Board is CSE’s listing platform dedicated to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and growth companies and aims to attract companies with a stated capital of 25 – 100 million rupees at the point of listing.
The forum was jointly held by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission, the first time a forum on stock exchange listings was hosted in the province.
The requirements and the process involved with a listing on the Empower Board have been tailored to address the context of these companies, and are different from the Main and Diri Savi Boards.
