Sri Lanka stocks close 0.07-pct lower
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.07 percent lower on selling interest in Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka, Carson Cumberbatch and John Keells Holdings, with turnover crossing a billion rupees.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed 3.64 percent lower at 5,383.72 and the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks gained 0.36 percent, or 9.08 points to 2,512.68.
The market turnover was 1.1 billion rupees with 67 stocks gaining and 52 stocks declining.
Crossings or negotiated deals contributed 77 percent to the market turnover recording the highest turnover for the month.
They were a result of portfolio relocation by a big individual share market player, dealers said.
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC was down 50 cents at 15.10 rupees a share, Carson Cumberbatch PLC eased 7.60 rupees to 157.40 rupees a share and John Keells Holdings PLC fell 1.10 rupees to 138.30 rupees a share, contributing to ASPI decline.
Net foreign selling was 61.4 million rupees, down from previous day’s net foreign selling of 109.8 million rupees.
