ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.08 percent higher on Monday.
Colombo’s All Share Price index (ASPI) closed 8.51 points lower at 5,376.67.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed 0.34 percent or 8.51 points up at 2,505.07.
The market turnover 253 million rupees with 56 stocks gaining and 42 stocks declining.
There were three crossings in Amãna Bank stocks (71.6 million rupees) and one crossing in Sampath Bank (67.9 million rupees) which in total accounted for almost 55 percent of the turnover, brokers said.
John Keells Holdings closed 2.30 rupees up at 141.00 rupees a share contributing most to the ASPI’s rise.
Sampath Bank closed 3.30 rupees up at 142.50 rupees a share and Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 1.10 rupees up at 93.00 rupees a share, also pushing the ASPI up.
