Sri Lanka stocks close 0.15-pct higher

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.74 percent higher on Monday,helped by LOLC Development Finance, Nestle Lanka and Carson Cumberbatch, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 11.27points to close at 7,726.73.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks fell 0.64 per cent or 19.66 points to close at 3,063.72.

Turnover was 1.9 billion rupees with 74 stocks gaining and 92 falling.

LOLC Development Finance closed 41.00 rupees or 25.00 percent up at 205.00 rupees a shareandLOLC Holdings fell 3.00 rupees to close at 416.75 rupees.

LOLC Finance closed 10 cents down at 6.70 rupees Browns Investment closed 10 cents down at 6.20 rupees a shareand Brown and Company gained 1.00rupee to close at 180.25 rupees a share.

John Keells Holdings closed 50cents down at 135.25 rupees a share and Vallibel one closed flat at 54.60 rupees a share.

Hayleys Plc closed 1.70 rupees down at 77.60 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products closing 1.70 rupees down at 52.90 rupees and Haycarb Plc fell 3.20 rupees to close at 98.80 rupees.

The Kingsbury closed flat at 6.70 and Singer Sri Lanka closed 10 cents at 18.40 rupees.

Asiri Hospital Holdings closed 20 cents up at 30.20 rupees a share.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed 3.25 rupees down at 963.50 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 20 cents down at 12.20 rupees while Ceylon Cold stores closed 16.00 rupees up at 650.75 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 90 cents down at 33.50 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed 10 cents down at 17.50 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed flat at 13.10 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed81.25 rupees up at 1,200.00 rupees.

Housing Development Finance closed 2.70 rupees up at 37.80 rupees and Central Finance Company closed 40 cents up at 96.00 rupees.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 50 cents down at 89.60 rupees.

Hatton National Bank closed 50 cents down at 137.00 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed 10 cents down at 55.10 rupees a share.

DFCC Bank closed 50 cents up at 63.50 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed flat at 58.90 rupees.

Seylan Bank closed 50 cents up at 50.50 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed10 cents up at 16.70 rupees.

Bukit Darah closed 9.50 rupees up at 279.50 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 50 cents down at 84.60 rupees.

Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 25 cents down at 138.25 rupees.

Distilleries Company closed flat at 20.40 rupees a share while Melstacorp Plc fell 40 cents to close at 51.20 rupees.

In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed flat at 9.90 rupees, John Keells Hotels closed 10 centsup at 9.60 rupees a share and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 10 cents up at 29.40 rupees.

Access Engineering closed 30 cents down at 23.20 rupees.

Aitken Spence Plc closed 50 cents down at 58.10 rupees.

Windforce Closedflat at 18.90 rupees, Chrissworld limited closed 30 centsdown at 13.70 rupees and Prime Land Residencies closed flat at 10.50 rupees.

Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 40 cents down at 36.90 rupees, Lanka Tilesfell 40 cents toclose at 52.10 rupees, Lanka Walltilesgained 30 cents to close at 62.80 rupees and Lanka ceramic closed 3.75 rupee down at 151.25 rupees.

The Food Beverage and TobaccoIndustry group which was the most active gained 1.03 percent.(Colombo/June 21/2021)
