Sri Lanka stocks close 0.16-pct up
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks gained 0.16 percent on John Keells Holdings, Cargills Ceylon PLC and Vallible one Plc on Monday, provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed 8.46points up at 5,329.33 on Monday.
The market opened on a positive note but within the first hour into trading fell to a low of 5,312.61 but again picked up and continued the trajectory to close marginally high.
S&P SL20 Index of most liquid stocks closed today 0.03 percent or 0.63 points down at 2,359.75.
Market turnover was 1.3 billion rupees, while 74 stocks gained and 72 fell.
24.4 million rupee negotiated trade (crossing) was seen in HNB bank at 122.00 rupees a share and the stock closed 60 cents down at 121.40 rupees a share.
Net foreign buying in the market was 450.5 million rupees.
The John Keells Holdings plc share traded 1.60 rupees up at 135.60 rupees a share contributing most to ASPI’s gain.
Cargills Ceylon Plc Holdings gained 8.00 rupees to 180.10 rupees a share while Vallible one Plc was up 90 cents to 16.50 rupees a share, also contributing for the ASPI gain. (Colombo/Aug 31/2020)
