Sri Lanka stocks close 0.18 higher in thin turnover
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.18 percent higher on Thursday, in thin trade as investors stayed in the sidelines ahead of elections, brokers said.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained 10.36 points to 5,772.76 and the S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks rise 0.48 percent or 13.26 points to 2,754.65.
The market turnover was 273 million rupees with 58 stocks gaining and 41 falling.
A single crossing (negotiated trade) in Nations Trust Bank accounted for 47.9 million of the day’s turnover.
John KeellsHoldings gained 2.90 rupees to 154.90 rupees a share contributing most to the gain of the ASPI.
Commercial Leasing and Finance was up 20 cents at 3.20 rupees a share and Commercial Bank of Ceylon gained 90 cents to 98.90 rupees a share also contributing to the gain of ASPI. (Colombo/ 26 September/ 2019)
