Sri Lanka stocks close 0.18-pct higher
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.18 percent higher mainly on gains in Cargills (Ceylon) Plc and Carson Cumberbatch Plc on Tuesday, provisional data showed.
Colombo All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed 11.11 points higher at 6,094.85.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) maintained an upward trend throughout the day with an intra-day high of 6,116.21 and continued to fall to close marginally higher than the day’s lowest 6,088.98.
The S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks closed 0.24 percent or 7.15 points up at 3,011.10.
Market turnover was 633 million rupees with 87 stocks gaining and 48 declining.
Cargills (Ceylon) Plc closed 6.00 rupees higher at 194.80 rupees a share, contributing most to the rise of the ASPI.
Carson Cumberbatch gained 5.00 rupees to 180.00 rupees a share while John Keells Holdings gained 70 cents to 161.70 rupees a share, also contributing to the gain of ASPI.
