Sri Lanka stocks close 0.20-pct higher ahead of holiday season

ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.20 percent higher on Friday with buying interest in John Keells Holdings.

The Colombo Stock Exchange ended trading after the morning session, ahead of the traditional new year weekend.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed 11.22 points higher at 5,587.33, gaining throughout the session from an intra-day low of 5,565.55 in the first half hour of trading.
The more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed 3.22 points lower at 2,713.87.
Market turnover was 184.2 million rupees, with 34 stocks gaining and 43 falling.
Dialog Axiata and East West Properties generated half of the daily turnover.
Dialog closed flat at 9.10 rupees a share, while East West Properties Plc closed 60 cents lower at 17.70 rupees a share, after it divested all shares in a hotel subsidiary to Singapore’s Hotel Properties Limited.
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka closed 50 cents higher at 15 rupees a share, contributing to the ASPI gain, alongside John Keells Holdings, up 1.50 rupees to 153 rupees a share, and Carson Cumberbatch, closing 14.90 rupees higher at 170 rupees a share.
Hemas Holdings closed 2.80 rupees lower at 75.10 rupees a share. (Colombo/Apr12/2019-SB)
