Sri Lanka stocks close 0.26-pct higher
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.26 percent higher on Tuesday.
Colombo’s All Share Price index (ASPI) closed 14.13 points up at 5,390.80.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed 0.81 percent or 20.19 points up at 2,525.26.
The market turnover 507 million rupees with 59 stocks gaining and 39 stocks declining.
Two crossings in Lion Brewery Ceylon (207.9 million rupees) and trades in Ceylinco Insurance (165.29 million rupees) accounted for 73 percent of turnover.
The index was pushed up because of three stocks; namely Asian Hotels & Properties, NDB and Commercial Bank.
Asian Hotels & Properties closed 2.50 rupees up at 38.00 rupees a share contributing most to the ASPI rise.
National Development Bank closed 4.40 rupees up at 93.90 rupees a share and Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 1.00 rupee up at 94.00 rupees a share, also pushing the ASPI up.
