Sri Lanka stocks close 0.28-pct lower
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.28 percent lower on Monday.
Colombo’s All Share Price index (ASPI) closed 16.72 points lower at 5,881.72.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed 0.32 percent or 9.22 points lower at 2,893.58.
The market turnover was 281 million rupees with 36 stocks gaining and 83 stocks declining.
A crossing each was done in both Union Bank of Colombo and Sampath Bank amounting to 45 million rupees and 33 million rupees.
Hemas Holdings closed 2.10 rupees down at 74.00 rupees a share contributing most to the fall of the ASPI.
Hemas Holdings made a loss of 426 million rupees in the June 2019 quarter compared with profits of 554 million rupees a year ago as consumer demand fell after April’s suicide bombings and subsequent communal violence.
The Bukit Darah closed 11.10 rupees down at 221.20 rupees a share.
LOLC Holdings’ closed 2.10 rupees down at 125.90 rupees a share, also pushing the ASPI down.
