Sri Lanka stocks close 0.30-pct lower

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.30 percent lower on Friday, interim data showed.

Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) maintained a downward trend throughout the day gaining an intra-day high of 5,810.36 half an hour into trading and continued to fall to close marginally higher than the day’s lowest 5,791.33.

ASPI closed 17.15 points down at 5,793.89 and the S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks fell 0.79 percent or 22.12 points to 2,764.83.

The market turnover was 543 million rupees with 41 stocks gaining and 65 falling.

A crossing (negotiated trade) in Dialog Axiata stock contributed 54.8 million rupees to the turnover.

John Keells Holdings fell 1.30 rupees to 150.10 rupees a share, LOLC Development and Finance was down 6.30 rupees to 45.00 rupees a share and Sampath Bank was down 3.80 rupees to 154.90 rupees share, contributing to the fall of the ASPI.
