Sri Lanka stocks close 0.38 percent higher
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.38 percent higher on Carson Cumberbatch, Hatton National Bank and Melstacorp on Thursday, interim reports showed.
Colombo’s main All Share Price Index (ASPI) advanced 18.74 points to close at 4,976.98 points.
The index hit an intra-day high of 4,992.16 within half an hour into trading.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed up 19.40 points or 0.91 percent higher to 2,140.51.
Market turnover amounted to 1.20 billion rupees as 85 stocks made gains and 63 fell.
Four crossings were seen in Commercial bank totaled to 146.64 million rupees at 69.80 – 70 rupees per share and stock close 10 cents down at 69.80 rupees per share.
Carson Cumberbatch contributed most to ASPI’s gain while Hatton National Bank and Melstacorp followed up with next highest contributions.
Carson Cumberbatch shares closed 12.30 rupees up at 167.70 rupees a share.
Hatton National Bank Plc shares ended at 81.20 rupees a share, up 1.00 rupees while Melstacorp Plc shares climbed 90 cents, closing at 29.00 rupees a share.
