Sri Lanka stocks close 0.68-pct up
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.68 percent higher on Friday, on Carson Cumberbatch PLC, Bukit Darah PLC and Expolanka Holdings, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo stock exchange closed 63.30 points up at 5,874.50.
The main index started positive but fell to a low at 5,813.84 within the first hour into trading but the picked up and continued to increase throughout the day..
The more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed 0.23 percent or 5.74 points up at 2,487.66.
The market turnover was 453.9 million rupees, while 97 stocks gained and 82 fell.
Index-heavy Carson Cumberbatch PLC contributed most to the ASPI gain, closing 45.70 rupees up at 255.70 rupees a share.
Bukit Darah PLC closed 47.50 rupees up at 297.70 rupees a share and Expolanka Holdings closed 60 cents up at 11.20 rupees a share.
A 244.7 million rupee crossing (negotiated trade) was seen in John Keells Holdings at 136.00 rupees a share and the stock closed at 135.90 rupees a share.
The Capital Goods industry index, which was the most active, grew 0.06 percent.
The Transportation industry index, which was also active, grew 5.6 percent.
