Sri Lanka stocks close 0.74-pct higher

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.74 percent higher on Friday, helped by LOLC Development Finance, LOLC Holdings and Sri Lanka Telecom, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 56.46 points to close at 7,715.46.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.23 per cent or 6.93 points to close at 3,086.52.

Turnover was 2.3 billion rupees with 96 stocks gaining and 73 falling.

LOLC Holdings gained 13.50 rupees to close at 419.75 rupees and LOLC Development Finance closed 32.75 rupees or 24.95 percent up at 164.00 rupees a share.

LOLC Finance closed flat at 6.80 rupees Browns Investment closed 10 cents up at 6.30 rupees a share and Brown and Company fell 25 cents to close at 179.25 rupees a share.

John Keells Holdings closed 25 cents down at 135.75 rupees a share and Vallibel one closed 20 cents up at 54.60 rupees a share.

Hayleys Plc closed 50 cents up at 79.30 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products closing 60 cents up at 54.60 rupees and Haycarb Plc gained 1.00 rupees to close at 102.00 rupees.

The Kingsbury closed 50 cents up at 6.70 and Singer Sri Lanka closed flat at 18.50 rupees.

Asiri Hospital Holdings closed 40 cents up at 30.40 rupees a share.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed 3.25 rupees down at 966.75 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 10 cents up at 12.40 rupees while Ceylon Cold stores closed 4.75 rupees up at 634.75 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 1.10 rupees up at 34.40 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed 20 cents down at 17.60 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed flat at 13.10 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed 17.75 rupees up at 1,118.75 rupees.

Housing Development Finance closed 90 cents up at 35.10 rupees and Central Finance Company closed 40 cents up at 95.60 rupees.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 10 cents up at 90.10 rupees.

Hatton National Bank closed 25 cents up at 137.50 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed flat at 55.20 rupees a share.

DFCC Bank closed 10 cents down at 63.00 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed 10 cents up at 58.90 rupees.

Seylan Bank closed 80 cents down at 50.00 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed flat at 16.60 rupees.

Bukit Darah closed flat at 270.00 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed flat at 85.10 rupees.

Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 50 cents down at 138.50 rupees.

Distilleries Company closed 40 cents down at 20.40 rupees a share while Melstacorp Plc gained 10 cents to close at 51.60 rupees.

In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed flat at 9.90 rupees, John Keells Hotels closed 20 cents up at 9.50 rupees a share and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 70 cents down at 28.50 rupees.

Access Engineering closed 20 cents down at 23.50 rupees.

Aitken Spence Plc closed10 cents down at 58.60 rupees.

Windforce Closed 10 cents up at 18.90 rupees, Chrissworld limited closed flat at 14.00 rupees and Prime Land Residencies closed 10 cents up at 10.50 rupees.

Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 10 cents up at 37.30 rupees, Lanka Tiles fell 50 cents to close at 52.50 rupees, Lanka Walltiles fell 50 cents to close at 62.50 rupees and Lanka ceramic closed 5.00 rupee up at 155.00 rupees.

The Diversified Financial Industry group which was the most active gained 3.7 percent. (Colombo/June 18/2021)
