Sri Lanka stocks close 1.10-pct higher
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 1.10 percent higher on Friday.
Colombo’s All Share Price index (ASPI) closed 64.85 points higher at 5,943.11.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed 2.69 percent or 77.59 points up at 2,963.38.
The market turnover was 1.1 billion rupees with 126 stocks gaining and 36 stocks declining.
A block trade of 45 million rupees was seen in John Keells Holdings stocks.
Market turnover was mainly boosted by Access Engineering (151 million rupees), Sampath Bank (116 million rupees) and Tokyo Cement Company (114 million rupees).
Ceylon Cold Stores closed 47.00 rupees up at 797.00 rupees a share contributing most to the rise of the ASPI.
Sri Lanka Telecom closed 1.90 rupees up at 30.40 rupees a share and Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 2.80 rupees up at 107.90 rupees a share, also pushing the ASPI up.
