Sri Lanka stocks close 1-pct higher
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.95 per cent higher on Monday, pushed by Index heavy Melstacorp PLC, Hemas Holdings PLC and Dialog Axiata, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo stock exchange closed 51.69 points up at 5,490.60.
The main index started low at 5,451.05 but continued to increase throughout the day.
The more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed 1.00 per cent or 23.53 points up at 2,382.77.
The market turnover was 2.28 billion rupees, while 129 stocks gained and 62 fell.
Index-heavy Melstacorp PLC contributed most to the ASPI gain, closing 02.50 rupees up at 32.00 rupees a share.
Hemas Holdings PLC closed 4.80 rupees up at 65.10 rupees a share and Dialog Axiata closed 20 cents up at 11.30 rupees a share.
A 25.2million rupee crossing (negotiated trade) was seen in Sampath Bank at 126 rupees a share and the stock closed at 126.40 rupees a share (Colombo/Sep 14/2020)
