ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.37 percent lower on Tuesday (27) for the second day with Expolanka Holdings, Commercial Leasing and Finance, and Browns Investments dragging the market, brokers said.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index fell 29.75 points to close at 8,092.98.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks fell 0.39 percent or 11.79 points to close at 3,048.22.
ASPI opened the day above 8,000 but remained volatile and plunged during mid-day trade to 8,082.88 and picking up marginally to plunge again before close.
Turnover was 2.3 billion rupees with 65 stocks gaining and 100 falling.
Expolanka Holdings closed 1.40 rupees down at 66.00 rupees a share contributing most to ASPI’s fall and Carson Cumberbatch closed 5.50 rupees down at 294.00 rupees
LOLC Holdings closed 50 cents up at 460.75 rupees a share and LOLC Development Finance closed 2.00 rupees up at 536.25 rupees a share.
LOLC Finance closed flat at 6.80 rupees a share, Browns Investment closed 10 cents down at 6.30 rupees a share while Brown and Company fell 1.50 cents to close at 184.25 rupees a share.
John Keells Holdings closed 1.00 rupees down at 137.25 rupees a share and Vallibel one closed 50 cents up at 57.80 rupees a share.
Hayleys Plc closed 60 cents down at 81.50 rupees with key subsidiaries Haycarb Plc closed 1.00 rupee down at 97.70 rupees and Dipped Products fell 1.10 rupee to close at 57.20 rupees.
The Kingsbury closed 10 cents down at 8.10 and Singer Sri Lanka closed 30 cents down at 18.40 rupees.
Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed flat at 960.00 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed flat at 13.60 rupees and Ceylon Cold Stores closed flat at 655.00 rupees.
Sri Lanka Telecom closed flat at 33.50 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed 20 cents down at 17.00 rupees.
Dialog Axiata closed flat at 11.70 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed 19.75 rupees down at 1,322.50 rupees and Kotmale Holdings closed flat at 393.75 rupees a share.
Commercial Leasing and Finance PLC closed 30 cents down at 7.30 rupees a share and Dialog Finance Plc closed flat at 83.60 rupees a share.
Housing Development Finance closed 20 cents down at 36.70 rupees and Central Finance Company closed 50 cents down at 89.10 rupees.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 10 cents up at 84.00 rupees.
Hatton National Bank closed 25 cents up at 129.75 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed 10 cents up at 51.40 rupees a share.
DFCC Bank closed 10 cents down at 59.00 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed 30 cents up at 56.30 rupees.
Seylan Bank closed 90 cents down at 46.70 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 10 cents down at 15.70 rupees.
Bukit Darah closed 4.50 rupees down at 303.50 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 90 cents down at 79.00 rupees.
Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 50 cents down at 143.75 rupees.
Distilleries Company closed flat at 19.50 rupees a share and Melstacorp Plc closed 70 cents down at 51.30 rupees.
In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed 20 cents down at 15.80 rupees while John Keells Hotels closed 10 cents down at 10.80 rupees a share and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed flat at 31.00 rupees.
Access Engineering closed 20 cents down at 22.80 rupees.
Aitken Spence Plc closed 80 cents up at 63.60 rupees.
Windforce Closed flat at 19.00 rupees, Chrissworld limited closed flat at 12.90 rupees and Prime Land Residencies closed flat at 9.60 rupees.
Royal Ceramic Lanka closed flat at 38.60 rupees, Lanka Tiles closed flat at 55.80 rupees, while Lanka Walltiles closed 50 cents up at 68.50 rupees.
