ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks fell 0.62 percent on Monday, pushed down by LOLC Holdings, Vallibel one and Mestacorp plc, brokers said.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index fell 47.07 points to close at 7,553.50.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks fell 0.96 per cent or 29.35 points to close at 3,042.15.
Turnover was 2.9 billion rupees with 47 stocks gaining and 112 falling.
LOLC Holdings fell 5.00 rupees to close at 341.50 rupees contributing most for ASPI’s fall, and Brown and Company fell 3.50 rupees to close at 185.75 while Browns Investment gained 10 cents to close at 6.40 rupees a share.
LOLC Finance closed 10 cents down at 6.30 rupees.
Expolanka Holdings fell 1.00 rupees to close at 51.20 rupees a share.
Melstacorp Holdings closed 1.70 rupees down at 48.90 rupees a share.
Hayleys Plc closed 1.70 rupeesdown at 83.10 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products falling60 cents to close at 59.70 rupees and Haycarb Plc falling 2.00 rupees to close at 114.75 rupees.
John Keells Holdings closed 50 cents down at 149.25 rupees a share and Vallibel One fell1.90 rupees to close at 59.70 rupees a share
The Kingsbury closed 20 cents down at 6.10 and Singer Sri Lanka closed 50 cents down at 20.80 rupees.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 50 cents down at 86.30 rupees, two negotiates trading’s worth 112.2 million rupeesin Hatton National Bank at 132 rupees a share and the stock closed 1.00 rupee up at 132.00 rupees.
DFCC Bank closed 60 cents up at 60.60 rupees while Nations Trust Bank closed 50 cents down at 55.00 rupees.
Seylan Bank closed flat at 50.00 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 50 cents down at 16.50 rupees.
Housing Development Finance closed flat at 35.20 rupees and Central Finance Company closed 180 cents down at 90.00 rupees.
Royal Ceramic Lanka closed flat at 367.75 rupees andLanka Tiles fell10 centsto close at 51.40 rupees
A crossing worth of 26.55 million was seen in Lanka Walltiles at 53.10 rupees a share and the stock fell 2.75 cents to close at 53.20 rupees .
Bukit Darah closed flat at 315.00 rupees while Hemas Holdings closed 80 centsdown at 84.20 rupees, Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 2.75 down at 139.00 rupees and Distilleries Company closed 10 cents down at 20.70 rupees.
In the hotel sector Eden Hotel Lanka closed 20 cents down at 10.20 rupees, Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 1.20 rupees down at 31.00 rupees while John Keels Hotels closed 20 cents up at 10.20 rupees a share.
Access Engineering closed 70 cents down at 23.90 rupees.
Nestle Lanka closed 8.50 rupees down at 1,052.50 rupees and Aitken Spence Plc closed 50 cents down at 58.00 rupees.
Sri Lanka Telecom closed 20 cents up at 35.80 rupees, Dialog Axiata closed 10 centsdown at 13.00 rupees and Richard Pieris and Company closed 10 cents down at 17.30 rupees.
Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 1.25 rupees down at 978.75 rupees, Ceylon Cold stores closed 5.25 rupees down at 595.50 rupees and Piramal Glass Ceylon closed flat at 11.30 rupees.
Net foreign selling was 188.5 million rupees.
