Sri Lanka stocks end 0.22-pct higher

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.22 per cent higher on Tuesday, helped by Carson Cumberbatch, LOLC Development Finance and Bukit Dhara, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 16.98 points to close at 7,743.71.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks fell 1.25 per cent or 38.37 points to close at 3,026.08.

Turnover was 1.9 billion rupees with 59 stocks gaining and 127 falling.

Carson Cumberbatch closed 62.50 rupees up at 355.50 rupees a share, LOLC Development Finance closed 51.25 rupees or 25.00 percent up at up at 256.25 rupees a share, and Bukit Darah closed 81.00 rupees up at 360.50 rupees a share, contributing most to ASPI’s gain.

LOLC Holdings fell 8.25 rupees to close at 408.50 rupees.

LOLC Finance closed flat at 6.60 rupees a share, Browns Investment closed 10 cents down at 6.10 rupees a share and Brown and Company down 3.75 rupees to close at 176.50 rupees a share.

John Keells Holdings closed 2.00 rupees down at 133.25 rupees a share and Vallibel one closed 1.00 rupee down at 53.60 rupees a share.

Hayleys Plc closed 1.00 rupees down at 76.60 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products closing 1.00 rupees down at 51.90 rupees and Haycarb Plc fell 1.20 rupees to close at 97.60 rupees.

The Kingsbury closed flat at 6.70 and Singer Sri Lanka closed 40 cents down at 18.00 rupees.

Asiri Hospital Holdings closed 30 cents up at 30.50 rupees a share.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed 1.50 rupees up at 965.00 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 20 cents down at 12.00 rupees while Ceylon Cold stores closed 20.25 rupees up at 671.00 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 30 cents up at 33.80 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed 30 cents down at 17.20 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents up at 13.20 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed 4.00 rupees up at 1,204.00 rupees.

Housing Development Finance closed 20 cents up at 38.00 rupees and Central Finance Company closed 20 cents up at 96.20 rupees.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 1.40 rupees down at 88.20 rupees.

Hatton National Bank closed 1.50 rupees down at 135.50 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed 50 cents down at 54.60 rupees a share.

DFCC Bank closed 90 cents down at 62.60 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed 50 cents down at 58.40 rupees.

Seylan Bank closed 50 cents down at 50.00 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 30 cents down at 16.40 rupees.

Hemas Holdings closed 1.30 rupees down at 83.30 rupees.

Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 2.50 rupees down at 135.75 rupees.

Distilleries Company closed 60 cents down at 19.80 rupees a share while Melstacorp Plc fell 50 cents to close at 50.70 rupees.

In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed 10 cents down at 9.80 rupees, John Keells Hotels closed flat at 9.60 rupees a share and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 40 cents down at 29.00 rupees.

Access Engineering closed 20 cents down at 23.00 rupees.

Aitken Spence Plc closed 1.10 rupees down at 57.00 rupees.

Windforce Closed flat at 18.90 rupees, Chrissworld limited closed 50 cents down at 13.20 rupees and Prime Land Residencies closed 20 cents down at 10.30 rupees.

Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 80 cents down at 36.10 rupees, Lanka Tiles fell 1.10 rupees down at 51.00 rupees, Lanka Walltiles fell 1.10 rupees to close at 61.70 rupees and Lanka ceramic closed 50 cents down at 150.75 rupees.
