Sri Lanka stocks end down 0.3-pct
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lankan shares ended lower for the second straight day in thin trade with foreign participation improving but on the selling side, brokers said.
The All Share Price Index lost 23.31 points or 0.32 percent to close at 7,159.94 while the S&P SL 20 index, which tracks the top 20 largest and most liquid stocks, fell 12.41 points (0.32 percent) to close at 3,924.67.
Turnover was a low 589 million rupees with crossings or off-the-floor negotiated deals in Dialog Axiata, Distilleries and Tokyo Cement.
“Despite the decline in volume and turnover, foreign participation continued to improve to 31 percent with a net foreign outflow,” First Capital Equities said in a report.
The benchmark index was dragged down by price falls in Dialog, Lion Brewery and Sri Lanka Telecom. (Colombo/September 10 2015)
