Sri Lanka stocks end higher
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.09 percent higher on Monday pushed by index heavy Expolanka, Nestle Lanka and Tokyo Cement Company, recovering from the last weeks fall, Colombo Stock exchange provisional Data showed.
Colombo’s All share price index gained 0.09 percent or 5.76 points to close at 6,622.71
The main index started positive and increased during the Mid-day on volatile trading but fell to a daily low at 6,620.84 during the last hour into trading but picked up to close marginally high.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.47 percent or 12.12 points to close at 2,585.07.
The market turnover was 2.5 billion rupees with 85 stocks gaining and 89 falling.
Expolanka Holdings contributed most to the ASPI gain, gaining 1.40 rupees a share to close at 27.00 rupees.
Nestle Lanka Plc gained 32.490 rupees a share to close at 1,232.30 rupees and Tokyo Cement Company closed 4.50 rupees higher at 75.30 rupees a share.
In the banking sector Hatton National Bank fell 30 cents to close at 124.10 rupees, Commercial Banka of Ceylon fell 60 rupees to close at 79.40 rupees, DFCC Bank fell 30 cents to close at 64.20 rupees and Sampath Bank closed 1.20 rupees down at 132.00 rupees a share.
In the hotel sector Eden Hotel Lanka gained 30 cents to close at 12.60 rupees a share, Aitkenspence Hotel holdings gained 30 cents to close at 33.00 rupees while john keels Hotels fell 30 cents to close at 11.00 rupees a share.
Distilleries Company fell 10 cents to close at 20.70 rupees and Sri Lanka telecom closed 60 cents down at 33.00 rupees a share while Cargills Ceylon gained 1.50 rupees to close at 200.00 rupees a share.
Browns Investments Plc closed flat at 3.90 rupees a share while its parent LOLC holdings closed 1.10 rupees down at 136.50 rupees a share.
Asiri Hospital Holdings fell 40 cents to close at 31.50 rupees while Ceylon Cold Stores gained 1.00 rupees to close at 699.90 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 70 cents up at 93.70 rupees a share.
Melstacorp Plc closed 1.00 rupees up at 51.10 rupees a share and Softlogic Holdings closed 50 cents up at 12.70 rupees a share.
Ceylon Tobacco Company fell 11.70 rupees to close at 1,000.20 rupees while Piramal Glass Ceylon gained 10 cents to close at 9.50 rupees a share.
Hayleys Plc gained 40 cents to close at 385.50 rupees a share and Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents down at 12.10 rupees a share.
Aitken Spence Plc closed 2.10 rupees up at 59.30 rupees and Richard Pieris and Company gained 30 cents to close at 14.80 rupees.
The Material industry was the most active, gained 1.9 percent. (Colombo/December 21/2020)
