Sri Lanka stocks end higher

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.12 percent higher on Friday, with LOLC Holdings, Ceylon Tobacco Company and Commercial Leasing and Finance pushing the ASPI up, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 9.14 points to close at 7,610.30.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks fell 0.18 per cent or 5.65 points to close at 3,068.45.

Turnover was 2.2 billion rupees with 64 stocks gaining and 112 falling.

LOLC Holdings gained 8.75 rupees to close at 388.25 rupees, Browns Investment closed flat at 6.30 rupees a share and Brown and Company gained 3.25 rupees to close at 178.75 rupees a share.

LOLC Finance closed 30 cents up at 6.70 rupees and LOLC Development Finance closed 6.20 rupees up at 74.20 rupees a share.

John Keells Holdings closed 25 cents down at 137.75 rupees a share and Vallibel one closed 1.10 rupees down at 56.10 rupees a share.

Hayleys Plc closed 1.50 rupees down at 75.80 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products closing 1.00 rupee down at 51.10 rupees and Haycarb Plc fell 70 cents to close at 94.90 rupees.

The Kingsbury closed flat at 6.40 and Singer Sri Lanka closed flat at 18.90 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed 10.50 rupees up at 979.75 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 10 cents down at 11.90 rupees and Ceylon Cold stores closed 8.75 rupees up at 618.75 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 40 cents down at 34.00 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed flat at 18.00 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed 20 cents up at 13.20 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed 2.00 rupees up at 1,100.25 rupees.

Housing Development Finance closed flat at 36.50 rupees while Central Finance Company closed 60 cents down at 95.40 rupees.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 40 cents up at 91.50 rupees.

Hatton National Bank closed 1.25 rupees down at 135.50 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed 10 cents up at 55.50 rupees a share

DFCC Bank closed 40 cents down at 64.00 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed 20 cents down at 60.00 rupees.

Seylan Bank closed 60 cents up at 51.00 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 10 cents up at 17.20 rupees.

Bukit Darah closed 4.00 rupees up at 278.00 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 90 cents down at 85.50 rupees.

Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 2.25 rupees down at 139.50 rupees.

Distilleries Company closed 20 cents down at 21.10 rupees a share, Melstacorp Plc fell 40 cents to close at 48.50 rupees.

In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed 10 cents up at 10.00 rupees, John Keells Hotels closed 10 cents up at 9.40 rupees a share and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 70 cents up at 29.20 rupees.

Access Engineering closed flat at 24.00 rupees and Carson Cumberbatch closed flat at 280.00 rupees.

Aitken Spence Plc closed flat at 59.60 rupees.

Windforce Closed 10 cents up at 19.60 rupees, Chrissworld limited fell 30 cents to close at 14.40 rupees and Prime Land Residencies fell 20 cents to close at 10.80 rupees.

Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 70 cents down at 38.20 rupees, Lanka Tiles fell 80 cents to close at 53.90 rupees, Lanka Walltiles fell 1.30 rupees to close at 63.70 rupees and Lanka ceramic closed 50 cents down at 150.00 rupees.

The Diversified Industry group which was the most active gained 1.7 percent. (Colombo/June 11/2021)
