Sri Lanka stocks end lower
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks fell 0.30 per cent at Tuesday’s closing on index heavy Expolanka Holdings, Hayleys Plc and Singer Sri Lanka, Colombo Stock Exchange provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index fell 0.30 per cent or 18.61 points to close at 6,095.89.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 1.52 per cent or 36.24 points to 2,415.93.
The market turnover was 3.6 billion rupees with 95 stocks gaining and 104 falling.
Expolanka Holdings contributed most to ASPI’s fall, closing 2.60 rupees down a share to trade at 25.60 rupees.
Hayleys Sri Lanka fell 55.50 rupees to trade at 384.00 rupees a share and Singer Sri Lanka fell 7.30 rupees to trade at 52.30 rupees a share also contributing to the ASPI fall.
Hatton National bank gained 1.30 rupees to trade at 115.70 rupees, Commercial Bank of Ceylon gained 3.00 rupees to trade at 78.10 rupees a share while Sampath Bank gained 2.00 rupees to trade at 126.90 rupees a share.
Melstacorp Plc gained 50 cents to close at 34.40 rupees a share, Richard Pieris and Company gained 40 cents to trade at 16.50 rupees a share while Softlogic Holdings fell 10 cents to trade at 10.80 rupees a share.
John Keells Holdings gained 1.30 rupees a share to trade at 138.20 rupees a share while Hemas Holdings gained 2.50 rupees to trade at 76.00 rupees a share.
Ceylon Cold stores fell 21.90 rupees to close at 636.80 rupees a share, Ceylon Tobacco Company closed flat at 960.10 rupees a share while Nestle Lanka gained 9.70 rupees to close at 1,110.80 rupees a share.
The Capital goods industry index, which was the most active, fell 4.6 per cent.
The transportation Industry index which was also active fell 9.10 per cent. (Colombo/November 10/2020)
