Sri Lanka stocks end lower

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.11 percent down on Friday’s helped by Nestle Lanka, Hemas Holdings and Ceylon Tobacco, Colombo Stock Exchange provisional data showed.

Colombo’s All Share Price Index fell 0.11 percent or 7.20 points to close at 6,616.95.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks fell 0.39 percent or 10.06 points to close at 2,572.95.

The market turnover was 1.7 billion rupees with 84 stocks gaining and 94 falling.

Nestle Lanka, contributed most to ASPI’s fall, dropping 24.90 rupees a share to close at 1,199.80 rupees a share.

LOLC Holdings also close 3.50 rupees down at 136.80 rupees.

Hemas Holdings fell 2.20 rupees to close at 93.00 rupees a share and Ceylon Tobacco fell 5.80 rupees to close at
1,011.90 rupees also contributing to the ASPI fall.

Eden Hotel Lanka gained 10 cents to close at 12.30 rupees while Hotel Sigiriya close flat at 68.20 rupees a share.

Hatton National Bank gained 60 cents to close at 124.40 rupees, DFCC Bank closed 20 cents up at 64.50 rupees and
Sampath bank gained 10 cents to close at 133.20 rupees while Commercial Bank closed 50 cents down at 80.00 rupees.

Expolanka Holdings closed 50 cents up at 25.60 rupees while Sri Lanka Telecom fell 20 cents to close at 33.60 rupees.

C T Holdings closed 60 cents up at 162.60 rupees, Asiri Hospital Holdings gained 1.00 rupee to close at 31.90 rupees while Ceylon Cold Stores fell 1.00 rupees to close at 698.90 rupees.

Melstacorp Plc closed 40 cents up at 50.10 rupees a share and Softlogic Holdings closed 30 cents down at 12.20 rupees a share.

Distilleries Company gained 30 cents to close at 20.80 rupees a share and Cargills Ceylon closed 40 cents up at 198.50 rupees a share.

The Food Beverage and Tobacco industry was the most active, gained 0.01 percent.

Hayleys Plc fell 3.10 rupees to close at 385.10 rupees a share and Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents down at 12.20 rupees.

Aitken Spence Plc closed 1.60 rupees down at 57.10 rupees and Richard Pieris and Company fell 40 cents to close at 14.50 rupees. (Colombo/December 18/2020)
