Sri Lanka stocks end lower, dragged down by Dialog Axiata
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.50 percent lower on Dialog Axiata plc, Lion Brewery Ceylon, and Browns investments on Monday, interim reports showed.
Colombo’s main All Share Price Index (ASPI) fell 25.73 points to close at 5,150.75.
The index hit an intra-day high of 5,178.81 within half an hour into trading. The index then tumbled towards mid-day hitting an all-day low of 5,140.08 before maintaining a marginal growth trajectory coming to an ending on a negative note.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed down 13.18 points or 0.59 percent lower at 2,214.01.
Market turnover amounted to 671.6 million rupees as 57 stocks made gains and 104 fell.
Dialog Axiata PLC contributed most for the fall of ASPI while Lion Brewery and Browns Investments followed up with the next highest contributions.
Dialog Axiata plc shares closed 20 cents down at 11.20 rupees a share.
Lion Brewery Ceylon shares ended at 580.00 rupees a share, down by 18.30 rupees while Browns Investments Plc shares fell 10 cents, closing at 2.10 rupees a share.(Colombo/Aug 10/2020)
