Sri Lanka stocks end marginally lower
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks end 0.01 per cent lower on Wednesday pushed by Carson Cumberbatch, Richard Pieris and Company and Sri Lanka Telecom, Colombo Stock Exchange data showed.
Colombo’s main, All Share Price Index fell 0.71 points to end at 6,108.22, losing 1-point.
S&P SL20 Index of most liquid stocks gained 0.06 per cent or 1.55 points to 2,397.26.
“Post budget profit-taking disrupted the momentum reverting the direction of the market to negative while sustaining the 2Bn plus turnover,” FirstCapital Market Research said.
The market turnover was 2.4 billion rupees with 70 stocks making and 107 made losses.
The counters that contributed most to ASPI’s fall were, Carson Cumberbatch, the parent of fell 7.90 rupees to close at 261.00 rupees a share, Richard Pieris and Company stocks fell 70 cents to close at 14.70 rupees a share and Sri Lanka Telecom fell 70 cents to 32.60 rupees.
However, stocks that made gains were Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka gained 70 cents to trade 19.00 rupees a share, Nestle Lanka gained 37.20 rupees to 1,138.40 rupees a share and Hemas Holdings traded 2 rupees up at 81.60 rupees a share.
Food and Beverages and Transportation Industry index were the most active today, contributing 48 per cent together.
