Sri Lanka stocks ends 0.18-pct higher

 ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks close 0.18 percent higher on Tuesday from buying interest in Melstacorp PLC, DFCC Bank PLC and Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka, market participants said.

Colombo’s All Share Price index (ASPI) closed 9.80 points up at 5,514.40.


The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks closed 0.80 percent or 20.65 points up at 2,600.74.


The market turnover was 550 million rupees with 78 stocks gaining and 48 stocks declining. 


Meanwhile, retail activity was significant with 4,600 trades done, brokers said.






A block trade in Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC (LHCL) contributed 56 percent or 307 million rupees to the market turnover. LHCL stocks ended 9.50 rupees down to 42.00 rupees a share.


Melstacorp PLC closed 2.70 rupees up at 44.80 rupees a share, DFCC Bank PLC was up 7.20 rupees to 83.90 rupees and Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC gained 30 cents to 17.00 rupees, contributing to ASPI gain.
