Sri Lanka stocks ends higher
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.76 per cent higher on Monday, pushed by Index heavy HNB Finance limited, Hemas Holdings and Vallibel one PLC, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo stock exchange closed 43.73 points up at 5,764.40.
The main index started at a positive level but fell to 5,679.03 in the first hour of trading but picked up and continued to gain throughout the day.
The more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed 0.05 per cent or 1.22 points down at 2,511.18.
The market turnover was 3.5 billion rupees, while 124 stocks gained and 65 fell.
Index-heavy HNB Finance contributed most to the ASPI gain, closing 1.70 rupees up at 8.80 rupees a share.
Hemas Holdings closed 3.70 rupees up at 71.70 rupees a share and Vallibel One closed 2.00 rupees up at 21.50 rupees a share.
The Capital Goods industry index, which was the most active, grew 1.94 per cent.
The Bank industry index, which was also active, fell 0.31 per cent.
