Sri Lanka stocks ends weaker
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.15 per cent lower on Wednesday, dragged down by HNB Finance limited, Dialog Axiata PLC and Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo stock exchange closed 8.48 points down at 5,772.46.
The main index started positive but fell to a low at 5,738.91 during the mid-day trading but continued to increase afterwards throughout the day to close marginally high.
The more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed 0.07 per cent or 1.73 points down at 2,490.62.
The market turnover was 2.15 billion rupees, while 86 stocks gained and 92 fell.
Index-heavy HNB finance limited contributed most to the ASPI fall, closing 1.60 rupees down at 13.70 rupees a share.
Dialog Axiata PLC closed 10 Cents down at 11.40 rupees a share and Sri Lanka Telecom closed 40 Cents down at 30.50 rupees a share.
A 70 million rupee crossing (negotiated trade) was seen in DFCC Bank at 70.00 rupees a share and the stock closed at 70.10 rupees a share.
The Capital Goods industry index, which was the most active, grew 0.37 per cent.
The Bank industry index, which was also active, fell 0.34 per cent.
