Sri Lanka stocks gain on Dialog, Carson Cumberbatch
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks ended 0.10 percent higher on Dialog Axiata and Carson Cumberbatch on Wednesday, provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed 6.23 points up at 5,948.27 on Thursday.
The market was volatile throughout the day, falling to a daily low of 5,912.90 within the first half-hour of trading, and rising to a high of 5,953.17 towards the latter part of the day.
The market has now gained for the second consecutive day.
The S&P SL20 Index of most liquid stocks closed 0.11 percent or 3.17 points up at 2,844.16.
Market turnover was 570 million rupees, while 76 stocks gained and 48 fell.
A 41.49 million rupee negotiated trade (crossing) was seen in Commercial Bank at 92.20 rupees a share and the stock closed flat at 92.20 rupees a share.
Another 57.7 million rupee crossing was seen in John Keells Holdings at 160.10 rupees a share and the stock closed at 160.50 rupees a share.
The Dialog Axiata Company share closed trading 20 cents up at 12.70 rupees a share contributing most to ASPI’s gain.
Carson Cumberbatch gained 6.80 rupees to 190.00 rupees a share while Brown Investment was up 10 cents to 5.20 rupees a share, also pushing the market up. (Colombo/Feb 06/2020)
