Sri Lanka stocks open 0.11-pct higher
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks open 0.11 percent higher on buying interest in John Keells Holdings, Commercial Bank of Ceylon and Softlogic Life Insurance in the first half hour of trading.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo Stock Exchange opened 5.88 points up at 5,389.60.
S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks opened 0.21 percent or 5.33 points up at 2,518.01.
Market turnover was 40 million with 34 stocks gaining and 12 stocks declining.
Index-heavy John Keells Holdings was trading 70 cents up at 139.00 rupees a share, contributing most to the ASPI gain.
Commercial Bank which was trading 10 cents down at 83.90 rupees a share and Softlogic Life Insurance which was 1.40 rupees up at 34.40 rupees a share also contributed to the benchmark index gain. (COLOMBO, JUNE 17, 2019)
