Sri Lanka stocks open firmer

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks were up 0.12 percent in early trading Monday on buying interest in LB Finance, Nations Trust Bank and John Keells Holdings, brokers said.

Colombo’s All Share index was up 6.34 points to 5,994.41, and the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks gained 0.42 percent, up 14.09 point to 3,080.38.

Market turnover was 11.7 million rupees within the first half hour of trading with 29 stocks gaining and 16 declining.

LB Finance was up 5.70 rupees in early trading to 125.90 rupees and John Keells Holdings was up 50 cents to 155 rupees.

Nations Trust Bank gained 2 rupees to 92 rupees.

Aitken Spence Hotels was down 1.30 rupees to 26 rupees and Teejay Lanka was trading 40 cents lower at 33.60 rupees. (COLOMBO, 21 January 2019)
