Sri Lanka stocks open higher
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks opened 0.82 percent higher on Friday from gains in banking stocks, continuing from the previous day’s record surge.
Colombo’s All Share index gained 50.10 points to 6,165.07 within the first ten minutes of trading. The S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks gained a sharp 1.33 percent, up 42.83 points to 3,263.90.
Around 61 stocks opened higher against six that declined.
Dialog was up 50 cents to 12.10 rupee and Melstacorp had gained 1.50 rupees to 53.50.
Commercial Bank was trading 2.20 rupees higher at 124 rupees and Hatton National Bank was up 5.20 rupees to 220 rupees.
Sampath Bank was up 3.70 rupees to 245 rupees.
Sri Lanka stocks surged 2.70 percent Thursday, the highest single day gain in more than six years, brokers said, with the All Share index gaining 160.66 points and the S&P SL20 gained 143.58 points. (COLOMBO, 02 November 2018)
