Sri Lanka stocks rally again

(EconomyNext) – Sri Lankan stocks rose strongly at the opening Monday, the second day of trading after an opposition victory in last week’s presidential polls, on the back of Friday’s 1.4 percent gain.

The Colombo bourse was up 08. Percent in the first hour of trading with the rally led by gains in Commercial Bank, Dialog Axiata, Distilleries Company, Chevron Lubricants Lanka and Hatton National Bank.

Access Engineering, a construction firm, was among the top losers, following last week’s losses with investors concerned it might not win as many projects in the island’s building boom as under the previous administration.
