ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange indices were trading up on Monday morning, CSE data showed, with the benchmark All Share Price Index moving up 0.26 percent.
The ASPI was up 55.27 points at 21,371.18, while the more liquid S&P SL20 was up 0.34 percent, or 20.54 points, at 6,025.88.
Positive contributors to the ASPI were Colombo Dockyard (up 0.41 percent at 121.50 rupees), Windforce (up 5.40 percent at 41.00 rupees), Aitken Spence (up 2.14 percent at 143.00 rupees), and John Keells Holdings (up 0.51 percent at 19.90 rupees).
Carson Cumberbatch (down 1.35 percent at 710.00 rupees) and Nations Trust Bank (down 0.72 percent at 310.75 rupees) were top negative contributors.
Market turnover was 144.9 million rupees. Capital goods led turnover with 66.6 million rupees.
Maharaja Foods announced a final scrip dividend of 0.10 rupees per ordinary share for the financial year ended March 31.
Following a 15 percent withholding tax deduction, the net dividend entitlement of 0.085 rupees per share will be satisfied by issuing 730,468 new ordinary shares at a consideration of 16.00 rupees per share, in the proportion of 1 new share for every 188.2354873861 existing shares held.
Shares of Maharaja Foods were trading up 0.61 percent at 16.50 rupees. (Colombo/August31/2026)
