Sri Lanka stocks up 0.18-pct
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks gained 0.18 percent on Tuesday helped by heavy Ceylon Tobacco Company, Valllibel One and Expolanka Holdings, brokers said.
Turnover was 972 million rupees with 67 stocks gaining and 84 falling.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 12.58 points to close at 6,979.29.
The index fell during the mid-day trading reaching a daily low at 6,912.63 but picked up to close marginally high.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.56 percent or 15.67 points to close at 2,801.79.
Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 7.00 rupees up at 999.75 rupees contributing most for the ASPI gain while Ceylon Cold stores closed 12.00 rupees down at 601.25 rupees and Piramal Glass Ceylon closed flat at 9.60 rupees.
DhammikaPerera’sVallibel One gained1.00 rupee to close at 47.00 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed flat at 150.00 rupees.
Hayleys Plc closed 60 cents up at 55.10 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products gaining 90 cents to close at 45.00 rupees and Haycarb Plc gaining 1.30 rupees to close at 93.40 rupees.
The Kingsbusry closed flat at 5.60 rupees and Singer Sri Lanka closed 40 centsup at 17.50 rupees.
Expolanka gained 20 cents to close at 43.50 rupees and Melstacorp Holdings closed 10 cents up at 43.50 rupees a share.
LOLC Holdings gained 1.50 rupees to close at 288.50 rupees.
LOLC Finance, closed 10 cents down at 5.70 rupees while Browns and Company gained 3.00 rupees to close at 149.75 rupees and Browns Investment closed flat at 4.80 rupees.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 80 cents up at 87.20 rupees and Hatton National Bank closed 25 cents up at 128.00 rupees.
DFCC Bank closed 1.50 rupeesup at 59.50 rupees, and Nations Trust Bankclosed flat at 53.80 rupees.
Seylan Bank closed 40 centsdown at 49.60 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 40 cents down at 14.40 rupees.
Central Finance Company closed 10 cents down at 81.70 rupees while Housing Development Finance gained3.10 rupees to close at 36.40 rupees.
Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 10.00 rupees up at 247.25 rupees, Lanka tiles gained1.00rupees to close at 176.75 rupees, Lanka Walltiles closed 6.50 rupees up at 180.50 rupees.
Cargills Ceylon closed flat at 235.75 rupees, Hemas Holdings closed 1.50 rupees up at 79.90 rupees andCeylon Grain Elevators gain 25 cents to close at 111.25 rupeesand Distilleries Company fell 10 cents to close at 19.80 rupees.
In the hotel sector Eden Hotel Lanka closed flatat 10.00 rupees, John Keels Hotels closed 20 centsdown at 9.50while Aitken Spence Hotel holdings closed 40 cents upat 28.50 rupees.
Carson Cumberbatch closed2.00 rupees upat 275.00 rupees and Access Engineering fell 10 cents to close at 21.80 rupees.
Nestle Lanka closedflat at 1,140.75 rupees and Aitken Spence Plc closed 60 cents down at 52.40 rupees.
Sri Lanka Telecom closed 30 cents down at 32.20 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents up at 13.00 rupees while Richard Pieris and Company closed 40 cents up at 16.20 rupees.
