Sri Lanka Supreme Court to deliver order on dissolution at 4.00pm
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on the case challenging the dissolution of parliament by President Maithripala Sirisena at 4.00 pm Thursday.
Judges had not yet arrived in the courtroom by 4.45pm.
Pending the judgment, the Supreme Court has given an interim order, reversing the dissolution.
President Sirisena dissolved parliament in the wake of appointing Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister, triggering a political crisis.
