Sri Lanka to borrow US$165mn from World Bank for water supply

COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka finance ministry has been given the nod to negotiate a 165 million US dollar loan from the World Bank for water supply, cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said.

The cabinet had approved a proposal by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, borrow the funds to improve water supply and sanitation facilities in 540 villages areas in Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Kegalle, Moneragala and Ratnapura districts.

The project will run from 2015 to 2020.
