Sri Lanka to do feasibility study on airport in central hills

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is to conduct a feasibility study on building an airport in Kandy district in the central hills for domestic air services, a spokesman said.
Minister of Land and Parliament Reforms Gayantha Karunathilaka said the proposed new airport at Dingana would be designed to handle medium-sized aircraft on flights connecting Kandy and other areas in the island. .
The Cabinet of ministers this week approved a proposal by Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to conduct the feasibility study for the new airport.
