Sri Lanka to hike state workers salaries, pensions; appeal to private employers
EconomyNext – Sri Lankan Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said the salaries of state employees will be raised by 10,000 rupees during 2015.
Half of the pay hike will be given in February and the balance by June, he told parliament while presenting the government’s interim budget.
He also asked private sector busineses to also consider raising pay by 2,500 rupees.
Karunanayake said energy prices have been cut reducing costs to private business.
Salaries of state pensioners will be raised by 1,000 rupees from Apri.
