Sri Lanka to hold 55th ADB summit in May 2022; some 4,000 participants expected
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved a proposal to hold the Asian Development Bank’s 55th annual summit in Colombo in May next year, the Government Department of Information (GDI) said.
Some 3,000 to 4,000 participants are expected to participate along with 30 ministers of finance and governors of central banks from member states as well as executive officers from major international banks and companies, journalists and other guests both local and foreign, the GDI said.
The proposed summit will be held over four days from 2 to 5 May 2022, with a number of other conferences and ceremonies to be held in parallel to the main event.
According to the GDI statement, the proposal was made by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa and the government is expected to enter a memorandum of understanding with the ADB in this regard. (Colombo/Feb02/2021)
