Sri Lanka to start building kidney hospital gifted by China
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena will lay the foundation stone for a 12 billion rupee (78 million US dollar) hospital for kidney diseases, gifted by China on December 06, his office said.
The state-of-the-art hospital in Polonnaruwa, President Sirisena’s home constituency, will have a 200-bed hospital including 100 beds for dialysis.
Many agricultural regions in the hot and dry areas in the country has been ravaged by chronic kidney disease of unknown origins, striking mostly the agricultural community.
Similar problems have appeared in other mostly tropical countries.
The hospital will help kidney patients around country, the statement said.
