Sri Lanka to test dog for Coronavirus
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka is testing a dog for Coronavirus after it developed symptoms similar to Covid-19, in a areas where there were large numbers of confirmed patients, a media report said.
“I have given permission for the dog to be tested,” Director General of Health Service, Anil Jasinghe told Sri Lanka’s Derana television.
“This disease was originally suspected to have jumped from animals to humans.”
The stary dog had been found around the Suduwella area where a person who has engaged in substance abuse was first confirmed and several of his companions and other contacts nearer Colombo was found by contact tracers.
The virus first emerged from Wuhan, in China’s Hubei province, supposedly from a wet market where live animals were sold. (Colombo/Apr26/2020)
