ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has sold 74.5 billion rupees of Treasury bills at an auction on Wednesday with the 3-month yield rising 10 basis points to 8.26 percent, data from the state debt office shows.
Most of the sales were in 3-month bills.
The debt office sold 71.08 billion rupees of 3-month bills at 8.26 basis points up 10 basis points after offering 25 billion.
2.4 billion rupees of 6-month bills were sold at 8.30 percent, up 03 basis points after offering 28 billion.
998 million rupees of 12 month bills were sold at 8.39 percent, up 14 basis points, after offering 21.5 billion rupees.
The auction came after the government announced a 229 billion rupees in handouts as inflation rose due to past money printing and forex shortages are disrupting imports. (Colombo/Dec06/2021)
