ECONOMYNEXT – A decision on a presidential candidate of the United National Party will be made in the ‘next few days’ aspirant Sajith Premadasa told reporters after a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

“There were cordial discussions,” Premadasa told reporters late outside Temple Trees. “The decision will be made known in a few days.”

Under Sri Lanka’s election law, the independent elections commission gets the power this week to name an election date.

Opposition Sri Lanka Podu Jana Party officials called for the date to be name early so that election laws would come into effect and put a halt to state sponsored advertising. (Colombo/Sept10/2019)
