Sri Lanka, Vietnam ICT sectors explore co-operation
ECONOMYNEXT – Information and communications industries of Sri Lanka and Vietnam had a virtual meeting to discuss future co-operation, Colombo’s embassy in Hanoi said.
“The two sides also agreed to together explore business ventures in software development, outsourcing, BPO and other sectors,” the embassy said.
“Vietnamese organizations will be inviting their Sri Lankan counterparts to participate at major IT events they hold in Viet Nam in the future.
“The potential of Viet Nam’s initiatives in their smart city concept, digital transformation, e-governance and technology training (AI, IoT, Block Chain and Big Data etc) was explored by the participants.
“Sri Lankan associations also assured the possibility of complementing skills between the two countries as part of future cooperation.”
The event was supported by Sri Lanka’s Export Development Board and the embassy in Hanoi.
Prasanna Gamage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Viet Nam had said the mission was committed to supporting co-operation in the sector.
Sri Lanka Association for Software Services Companies(SLASSCOM), Federation of Information Technology of Sri Lanka (FITIS) and the EDB had discussed the future strategy with their Vietnamese counterparts.
Nguyen Thi Thu Giang, General Secretary of Viet Nam Software and IT Association(VINASA), Vu Hoang Liean, Chairman of Vietnam Internet Association(VIA) had represented Vietnam. (Colombo/Jan22/2021)
