EconomyNext – ‘The World’, a private residential cruise ship owned by its residents, has added Sri Lanka to its sailing itinerary this year and recently made a three-day stop over.
The 644 feet-long, 43,524-ton vessel docked at the ports of Colombo and Galle, agents for the cruise ship Prudential Shipping Lines (Pvt) Ltd. said in a statement.
Residents from 19 countries live on board while the ship travels the earth staying in most ports for about three days.
Some residents live on board full time while others visit periodically, throughout the year.
Prudential Shipping Lines Managing Director Rohitha Mendis explained.
The World has 12 customer decks with 165 residences of which 106 are apartments, 19 studio apartments and 40 studio two and three-bed room apartments.
Average occupancy is 150- 200 residents and guests, with about 260 crew members.
