COLOMBO, Nov 24, 2014 (EconomyNext) – Sri Lankan companies doing business with India have asked for the re-introduction of long-term visas to India to make official visits easier.
This was one of the requests made by the Indo Lanka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ILCCI) at its recent Annual General Meeting where Indian High Commissioner Y. K. Sinha, was the Chief Guest.
ILCCI President Vish Govindasamy asked Sinha to favorably consider the re-introduction of the two-year to five-year business visa to Sri Lankan businessmen who travel regularly to India.
The ILCCI had also made representations to the Sri Lankan Immigration Department to provide the same facility to Indian businessmen travelling to Sri Lanka regularly, a statement said.
The long-term business visa is currently available to Sri Lankan businesses who have invested in India.
