The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Singapore Sashikala Premawardhane, is assuring visitors that all necessary measures have been taken the since the Easter Attacks to bring about a safe and secure environment in the country.
According to a Press Release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Premawardhane made this statement at a Business Forum entitled “Doing Business in Sri Lanka,” which was held in Singapore.
The communique further noted that a contingent from the Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was in Singapore from the 21 – 23 August to seek out opportunities to fortify trade and investment bonds between the two countries.
This official visit followed initiatives from the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore and the Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council Association along with Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Enterprise Singapore.
Several high profile meetings and networking sessions were held with over 26 companies representing a wide range of industries including the IT/BPM, Shipping & Logistics, Tourism, Gems & Jewelry, Construction and manufacturing sectors, and including the representatives from the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
The contingent also interacted with the Singapore -Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCCI), the Singapore-Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI), and the Law Society of Singapore and also undertook a networking visit to the Small and Medium Enterprises SMEICC EXPO.
At the forum, discussions were held aiming to provide information on the business and investment climate in Sri Lanka to Singaporean counterparts.
