Sri Lankan stocks at near 5-week low
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lankan stocks ended lower Thursday at a near five-week low with turnover boosted by block deals in John Keells Holdings which foreign investors sold, brokers said.
The All Share Price Index closed at 6,083.59, down 3.15 points or 0.05% while the more liquid S&P SL20 index closed at 3,245.20, down 22.55 points or 0.69%. Turnover was Rs789 million.
First Capital Equities said the market closed down for the fifth consecutive day at a nearly five-week low, the indices weighed down by losses in JKH and Ceylinco Insurance.
Turnover improved with nearly 62% derived from JKH where net foreign selling continued. There wwere two block deals in JKH which closed at Rs138.20, down Rs1.70 or 1.22%.
Net foreign outflow was seen for the second consecutive day, the brokers said.
